What to do on a rainy day in the Bay of Islands has often been question heard around town. With the weather always changeable at any time of the year, boat cruises and fishing trips can get cancelled, cycling can be less than fun and there is a limit to how much relaxing in your accommodation you can do.
Here is a list of some of our favorite things that can easily be done on a wet and blustery day in the Bay:-
- Visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds museum, for a look into the past that shoes what makes the Bay so historic.
- Lunch at the Duke of Marlborough in Russell or Charlottes Kitchen in Paihia, even if you have to take the ferry.
- Embrace the mud, rent a bike from Johnny at Paihia Mountain Bikes and go mountain biking in the Waitangi MTB Park.
- Go Rogue with us, we never cancel due to weather! Take a Jeep or Mustang ride in air-conditioned comfort and still see the sights, waterfalls, wine tastings and the back country roads.
